Theme: Monochrome

Each year, Shantel Smith Photography offers FOUR themed micro-minis for each new season. This year's Spring theme is Monochrome. As a photojournalist, black and white images speak so loudly to me and removing the distraction of color evokes the exact emotion of the moment of the capture. As as artist who works in still-life portraiture, an image that ignites all of your other senses equals success. As a mother, these are the images that bring my home to life. These are the art pieces that spark conversation in my home. Not every image should be a black and white image. Most, in fact, should not. Shooting Monochrome photography is an art in and of itself. The shots are purposeful and those particular moments in time were photographed  to be black and white.
